Sanuk is a Part of My Family! (Giveaway)
September 1, 2010
One day my husband walked in wearing these shoes that sort of confused me. They looked nice but they looked different too. I asked him what brand they were and he said “Sanuks and they aren’t shoes. They are sandals!.” I laughed at him and said, “Obviously, those are shoes!”
“Deal”icious Dad went on to explain that Sanuks were one of the most comfortable pair of shoes… ur sandals, he had ever owned. He said that they have a sole of a flip flop which makes them feel super casual and comfy. Yet when you look at them you see a shoe. One that you can wear to work, school, or even out to dinner. My hubby was in seventh heaven because usually he wears flip flops all the time except work because they are not allowed too. Well, now he wears his Sanuk sandals there too.
Recently, my four year old caught on to my husbands Sanuk love and he requested a pair for himself as well. Beefaroni fell in love too. These are great for the beach and the park. Since Sanuks were developed by a surfer it is only fitting that they are great for wearing in the sand.
Now, does “Deal”icious Mom love them? Yes, I do. I want a pair for myself. I actually really like how easy they are to clean. Simply throw them in the laundry and they are good to go.
I can honestly say now that both my son and my husband wear Sanuks almost all the time, that they are a part of my family! Since they are made for men, woman, and children, everyone can have a pair!
Now I just have to get me a pair… Here are the ones I want!

Shout Out to Sid the Science Kid! (Giveaway)
August 31, 2010
Can I just say that Sid the Science Kid has taught me a lot! Not just my kids but ME! I really love Sid the Science Kid. In school I was a bit of a English/Literature junkie and I still am. I mean come on, I am a high school English teacher so what do you expect. I have to love what I teach! So science is not my strong suit but Sid is really helping me out a lot! He makes it fun and so simple to understand!
Sid the Science Kid is an animated television series on PBS Kids, starring Sid, a funny and inquisitive 5-year old. Join Sid and his friends as they celebrate their excitement and curiosity about the world through discovery, activity and fun!
Anyway, my kids love Sid (a lot) the show had such great educational music and vibrant colors but really the content is so great! Recently I began to realize what my son had really been learning from Sid when he began to point out pulleys and levers when we went places. At first I had no idea where he learned what a pulley was but hen it hit me – Sid! Sid has also talk my 4 year old how important washing hands is and how his body works and moves! Seriously, I am impressed!
Each week, the programs focus on a single scientific concept based on Preschool Pathways to Science (PrePS©), a practical curriculum used in preschool classrooms that was created by cognitive researchers and preschool educators, incorporating lessons learned from developmental research as well as classroom experience.
Since my family is such a huge fan of Sid the Science Kid, I was super psyched when Playskool came out with Sid the Science Kid toys!
Learning about the world is even more fun when you’ve got a friend with you! This cute and cuddly Sid the Science kid figure even has a special surprise — press his tummy and he “talks” to you! Snuggle up in front of his “The Sticker Chart” DVD episode and then head off to make your own miraculous scientific discoveries. Figure comes with “The Sticker Chart” DVD.
And of course if you are a fan of Sid’s at all, you know you need a microphone just like his! This microphone is awesome. It makes clapping sounds just like Sid’s. It is a HUGE hit in our house! This is the BEST present for a Sid the Science kid fan! Fun push-button features let you create applause noise after you’ve interviewed someone, laughter noise when you’ve told a joke and even the Sid the Science Kid series theme song and silly sounds when you’re ready to sing! For extra fun, set it to “echo mode” and listen to your voice echo…echo…echo… everywhere you go!
I really believe these toys would make a great back to school gift or holiday gift purchase for your preschool age child!

Taking Your After School Conversation and Your Rice Krispies Treats to a Whole ‘Nother Level (Giveaway)
August 30, 2010
Many of us have been in this familiar situation, our kids come home, we ask about their day and all we hear is silence or maybe if we are lucky we get a “fine” or a “good”. Don’t our children realize how much we want to know about what they did all day? I know I wonder what fun things they learned and what they ate… I am sure you can relate.
Recently, Rice Krispies dared some mom bloggers including me, to think up some Rice Krispies recipes that may help start conversation after school, Rice Krispies thought that maybe with the help of a yummy snack we could get out kids chatting about their day.
Here is the recipe I came up with – (keep in mind that I burn everything):
A Whole ‘Nother Level of Rice Krispies Treat
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
- - OR –
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies®
- 6 oz of Walnuts
- half a bag of dark chocolate chips (5-6 oz)
- any kind of dried fruit if desired
Directions:
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal and walnuts. Stir until well coated. (dried fruit can be added here as well – optional)
3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Drizzle melted dark chocolate chips on to top and let cool some more. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.
Note
For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.
Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container. To freeze, place in layers separated by wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
Once all 10 bloggers have their recipes post you can check them out on
